My First Sherrilyn Kenyon Novel

The great Amazon.com recommended Sherrilyn Kenyon to me based on some supernatural books that I have purchased in the past. It recommended her "Dark Hunter" series. I headed down to 'ol Barnes n' Noble to pick up some reading materials and decided to purchase a few of her books.

I picked up the book "Dark Hunter" and went to the list of books. Inside, it not only had the list of books, but the "reading order". I loved that this was written this way because I normally go back and forth between all of the books on the shelf looking at copyright dates. I purchased the first three books on the list.

Now, about a month later, I was in the mood to read one of these books. What I didn't realize at the time because I just don't pay much attention to titles or synopses is that the first book is called "Fantasy Lover." How embarrassing.

Well, Sunday night I read about the first 10 pages of the book and thought "whoo boy" this is going to be a doozy. The first chapter tells a story of a Greek demi-god (Aphrodite's son) who is cursed to basically be trapped in a book and come out as a love-slave for a month to any woman who summons him. Yeah. I thought so too.

Last night, I began to read the story of a woman who didn't mean to summon the man with literally, the face and body of a Greek god. (Or more appropriately, Macedonian god.) The characters had depth and it wasn't all about sex. The characters grew together to overcome their pasts. And hey - any romance book that quotes Plato and makes sense has some redeeming value.

I started to read about 7pm last night. I finished the book at midnight. The book kept me engaged because I wanted to know how the characters were going to react and evolve.

Good read when you're in the mood.
